Credit Bureaus

Every adult has what is known as a credit report in their name, and this is a report that details their financial status. Your report will contain details of money you have borrowed or even applied to borrow as well as repayments you have made on borrowings and bills. The way you repay your bills and loans will make up your credit score, and the better your score the easier your life will be in the future when it comes to getting credit.

Credit reports do, of course, have to be maintained, and there are specialist companies that do this and they are known as credit bureaus. There are three main credit bureaus in use, and these companies compile and maintain credit reports through the information they receive from companies such as creditors and lenders.

The three main credit bureaus that are used today are Experian, Equifax, and TransUnion, all of which help to create and maintain these reports. Whenever you apply for finance and the company informs you that they will be performing a credit check it is one of these three companies that they will be approaching in order to see whether you are a sound risk when it comes to lending money.

If your credit rating is poor or non-existent when lenders approach these credit bureaus, then you will find it difficult to get the finance you are after. If, however, a search through the credit bureaus reveals that you have a good credit then you should have no problem getting the loan you need. It is worth remembering also that human and computer error can occur through the credit bureaus, and in order to ensure that your credit is in order you should order a copy of your reports from the credit bureaus and check through them to make sure that there are no discrepancies that could adversely affect your credit.
