Mortgage Lender Opens Doors in Tampa

Some mortgage lenders are closing their doors on the west coast of the Sunshine State. Meanwhile, IndyMac will be supplying almost 150 mortgage positions as the company opens a new mortgage center in Tampa.

A new regional mortgage center will be opened by IndyMac, a mortgage origination company, in the Tampa area. The office will occupy more than 12,000 square feet in downtown Tampa, will open up 100 positions in operations and 40 sales positions once in full operation. The announcement was made on the heels of an earlier statement made by mortgage lender Liberty Home Loans, indicating that they will be closing their office in the area. In a cooling market where lenders are downsizing, or closing, IndyMac is opening more centers around the nation. Southeast Florida is also expected to host a new IndyMac center later this year.

The company will employ mortgage professionals in all areas of the loan process, from the initial selling of the loan to underwriting, processing and closing the loan. The new office will bring the number of regional mortgage centers to 15, employing 7,200 people, of that 3,300 will be mortgage professionals. The opening is welcome news to those who have been released from positions within other mortgage companies.
